A guide for pastors & church leaders

How to Start a Men's Ministry for Pornography Addiction

Most churches already know men in their congregation are struggling. Few have a real plan for what to do about it. Here's one you can start using this month.

Why this is harder than it looks

Multiple national surveys — including Barna Group research — have found that a large majority of practicing Christian men have viewed pornography in the past month. Your church already has this problem. The only open question is whether there's a room in your building where a man can say so out loud.

General men's ministry doesn't reach it. A man won't confess this in a room of forty at a breakfast. He'll confess it to four men who've told him their own version of the same story.

The B.O.L.D. model

Team-based, not open drop-in

Four or five men, one trained leader — not an open invitation from the pulpit that fizzles after week two.

Daily, not just weekly

The Watchman app carries accountability between meetings — a daily check-in, not a once-a-week conversation.

Confidential, with two stated exceptions

A real code of silence, disclosed up front — threat of suicide, or harm to a minor. Nothing else leaves the room.

How to launch it, step by step

1

Find one leader

Not a man with no story of his own — a man willing to go first with his.

2

Recruit the first four or five men, personally

A direct, private ask works. A pulpit announcement usually doesn't.

3

Set one weekly time and place

Consistency matters more than the day you pick.

4

Use B.O.L.D.'s curriculum

The 26-week Workbook and Leader Handbook — no curriculum-writing required.

5

Put every man on Watchman

Daily check-ins so accountability doesn't go quiet between Sundays.

6

Talk it through with Bryan

A real conversation about your church — including what it costs.

What's included

Every church gets the full curriculum, leader training, and Watchman for daily accountability between meetings. Some churches also choose to cover Watchman+ — on- device content filtering and real-time pack alerts — for their whole group. What that looks like for your church is exactly what the call with Bryan is for.
